The Amazon is one of the most well known and pristine rainforests in the world. The Amazon is also the name of the principal river that flows through this region and hence the rainforest is named after the river. The Amazon animals are one of the most diverse arrays of fauna that one can see and one has to visit the place to experience the rich bio diversity. Some of the places in the Amazon basin still remain unexplored and scientists believe that many new species are lurking in these virgin forests. The climate is wet with a long monsoon with an intervening dry patch. Many Amazon animals have been recently discovered including many species of birds and insects. The place has also been the place of discovery of innumerable varieties of plans.
The forests of Amazon are located in the equatorial region in the continent of South America. The climate of the region is unique and presents the best conditions to support life. Some areas of the forest are completely secluded away from humanity as they are totally inaccessibly by land air or water. The Amazon animals have enjoyed a lot of isolation and this has helped life to nurture without the intervention of man. The biodiversity has been unspoiled and the tribes that reside in these dense forests are also not very friendly and do not welcome outsiders.
The most amazing among the Amazon animals are the various forms or amphibians that reside in the forests mainly the frogs. The frogs are brightly colored and are not available anywhere else in the world. They are highly poisonous and their poison is highly potent and can easily kill humans if touched accidentally. The indigenous tribes use the poison of these frogs to make poison darts that are shot form blow pipes to hunt animals or to defend their territory. The tribal people have learnt various ways to defend themselves and to live in harmony with the harsh conditions of the rainforests.
One of the most feared and misunderstood creatures among the Amazon animals are the anacondas which is a species of huge snake that kills its prey by constriction and suffocation. They can feed on really large animals and even humans though humans are not on their natural diet. The snake can grow to a great size and is one of the largest species of snake found in the world. The snakes feed on the capybaras which belong to a rodent family that is the family of mice but they can grow as big as a dog and can be as heavy as 100 lbs.
Many biologists and zoologists have attempted to venture into the dense forests of the Amazon but most of them have been unsuccessful and the expeditions have met with fatal ends. Malaria is a grave danger in these forests and death is lurking everywhere in the form of deadly snakes, poisonous frogs and deadly carnivores. The Amazon till date remains a mystery for the modern world.
